Protecting Birth Across Borders

Global Birth Guardians was created from a simple belief:

Birth deserves protection.
Families deserve dignity.
And those carrying this work around the world deserve one another.

Across countries, cultures, languages, and birth settings, many of us are witnessing the same need. Families are asking for care that is safer, kinder, more respectful, more informed, and more human. Birth professionals are working inside different systems, often carrying deep wisdom, yet sometimes feeling isolated from one another.

Global Birth Guardians was born to create a shared space.

A global table.

A place where doulas, doctors, midwives, nurses, educators, waterbirth advocates, birth centers, hospital leaders, researchers, organizations, and community birth workers can come together in conversation, collaboration, learning, friendship, and support.

This is not about replacing existing communities.

It is about connecting them.

Birth Guardians Egypt remains Birth Guardians Egypt.
Doulas of Dubai remain Doulas of Dubai.

Every local organization, birth community, hospital, birth center, and training group remains rooted in its own culture, country, wisdom, and work.

Global Birth Guardians exists to connect these communities across borders so that we can learn from one another, support one another, and grow together.

Why Global Birth Guardians Was Created

Birth is changing around the world.

In some places, families are asking for more access to gentle birth, waterbirth, doulas, midwifery, informed consent, and respectful care.

In other places, professionals are trying to protect physiology inside busy hospital systems, policy limitations, cultural expectations, fear-based environments, and fragmented models of care.

Many birth workers, doctors, midwives, nurses, and educators are asking similar questions:

How do we protect physiological birth while honoring medical safety?
How do we support waterbirth with education, clarity, and respect?
How do doulas, doctors, midwives, and nurses work together without division?
How do we make maternity care more human?
How do we support birth professionals so they do not feel alone?
How do we share wisdom across cultures without erasing local identity?

Global Birth Guardians was created as a place for these conversations.

Not as a finished organization.
Not as a certification program at this stage.
Not as one voice speaking for everyone.

But as the beginning of a global conversation for those who feel called to protect birth.

Our Founder

Global Birth Guardians was founded by Caridad Saenz, a Birth Guardian, doula, educator, author, speaker, and community builder based in Dubai.

Caridad’s work has always lived at the bridge between the sacred and the practical, between physiology and medicine, between families and systems, between birth workers and hospitals. Through her work as a doula, educator, author, and founder of birth-centered community initiatives, she has carried the belief that birth is not only a medical event, but a deeply human threshold.

Her vision for Global Birth Guardians grew from years of witnessing families, doulas, doctors, midwives, nurses, and educators all wanting the same thing, even when they stood in different places:

A birth culture rooted in dignity, collaboration, safety, wisdom, and humanity.

Global Birth Guardians is an extension of that vision.

It is a call to gather those who are protecting birth in their own countries, communities, hospitals, homes, classrooms, and organizations — and invite them into one wider circle.

With the Support of Barbara Harper

Global Birth Guardians is deeply honored to have the support and collaboration of Barbara Harper, global waterbirth educator, founder of Waterbirth International, and one of the most influential voices in the worldwide gentle birth and waterbirth movement.

Barbara’s work has helped open doors for waterbirth education, physiological birth, and respectful maternity care across many countries and generations.

Her presence in this founding chapter brings wisdom, history, and a deep reminder that protecting birth is not only about technique or policy. It is about honoring the humanity of mothers, babies, families, and birth teams.

Global Birth Guardians is grateful to be shaped by her guidance as this movement begins.

Our Ethos

Protecting Birth Across Borders

To protect birth does not mean to control birth.

It means to protect the conditions that allow dignity, safety, physiology, respect, and informed choice to remain present.

It means protecting mothers from being unseen.
Protecting babies from being rushed.
Protecting families from fear-based care.
Protecting professionals from isolation.
Protecting waterbirth from misunderstanding.
Protecting physiology from unnecessary disruption.
Protecting medicine from becoming disconnected from humanity.
Protecting collaboration from being replaced by competition.

We believe birth protection requires many voices.

It needs doulas.
It needs midwives.
It needs doctors.
It needs nurses.
It needs educators.
It needs birth centers.
It needs hospitals.
It needs researchers.
It needs families.
It needs community.

Global Birth Guardians exists to bring these voices closer together.

What We Believe

We believe birth deserves protection.

We believe families deserve dignity, information, and respect.

We believe physiological wisdom and modern medicine can work together.

We believe waterbirth deserves education, safety, understanding, and respect.

We believe birth professionals need support, not isolation.

We believe collaboration is stronger than competition.

We believe no one country, profession, or organization owns the future of birth.

We believe the global birth movement grows stronger when existing communities are connected, honored, and seen.

Present Vision

Right now, Global Birth Guardians is beginning with a Founding Circle.

The Founding Circle is the first gathering of people helping shape the direction, values, conversations, and future of this movement.

This first season is about:

  • gathering birth professionals and organizations from around the world
  • opening global conversation
  • listening to what is happening in birth across different countries
  • creating a WhatsApp community for connection and updates
  • hosting our first online gathering on June 25, 2026
  • identifying future country and community voices
  • creating a shared foundation rooted in dignity, respect, collaboration, and care

At this founding stage, there is no fee to join the Founding Circle or attend the first online gathering.

The purpose is to gather, listen, connect, and begin.

Future Vision

Over time, Global Birth Guardians may grow into a wider international platform for:

  • monthly global conversations
  • country and community spotlights
  • waterbirth education
  • gentle birth training
  • collaborative hospital discussions
  • professional support circles
  • multilingual resource sharing
  • online learning
  • retreats and in-person gatherings
  • global summits
  • community partnerships
  • future membership options
  • educational pathways and collaborative projects

As the movement grows, some future offerings may become paid so that the work can be sustainable, contributors can be honored fairly, and the community can be supported professionally.

But the heart of the vision will remain the same:

To connect those protecting birth across borders.

Our Invitation

Global Birth Guardians is for those who believe birth can be safer, kinder, more respectful, more connected, and more human.

It is for those who are tired of working in isolation.

It is for those who believe doulas, doctors, midwives, nurses, educators, birth centers, hospitals, organizations, and families can sit at the same table.

It is for those who want to protect waterbirth, physiology, dignity, and respectful care.

It is for those who believe the future of birth must be collaborative.

This is the beginning.

Different countries.
Different systems.
Different languages.
One shared purpose.

Together, we protect birth across borders.
